Happenings in Music Class…

Grades 1 and 4 have been working hard on their music reading skills in preparation of the Q3 Test.  Testing starts the week of February 19th during music classes.

Grade 3 has just started working on their program for math night.  They will be performing songs from "Math Rocks". Math Night is on Thursday, March 21st.  The performance will run from 5:00- 5:30 pm that night and will feature 5th grade harpists followed by the 3rd grade.

Grade 5 has been working on building their recorder playing skills along with learning repertoire for the concert with the Akron Symphony Orchestra.  That concert takes place Tuesday, March 19th at the Akron Civic Theatre in the morning. Permission slips should be coming soon. This year's concert is "The Orchestra Swings" and it features jazz.  This program opportunity is known as "Link Up". It is a program of Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute.

Ms. Best will be taking Grade 2 on a field trip to the Akron Civic Theatre the morning of Thursday, April 18th.  They will see the Verb Ballets production of "Jungle Book". Children's Concert Society puts this event together. The APS District is now picking up the cost for second graders.  Second graders will need to turn in a permission slip signed by a parent/legal guardian to attend.

Ms. Best has sent permission slips for May Festival home with select 5th grade students.  Those are due by February 14th. A Google Classroom has also been created for May Festival students and invites have been sent to those chosen.
