Project Ujima is a grassroots community engagement organization that teaches and facilitates Discussion Circle processes that enable diverse citizens to come together, discuss issues of shared concern, develop relationships of trust, discover common ground and go from talk to action. The organization is named after the third principle of Kwanzaa, which means “Collective Work and Responsibility: To build and maintain our community together and to make our brother’s and sister’s problems our problems and to solve them together.” Project Ujima focuses on fostering the conditions that lead to citizens discovering their own efficacy and capacity to work together to strengthen the community. In addition to providing Circle processes, we provide logistical support to assist with implementation of actions that are agreed upon by Circle participants. If you'd like to stay up to date on what's happening at Project Ujima, visit the website (and you can also sign up for the newsletter).
